Nicholas Makris is an Associate Professor in the Food & Beverage Management department. He received his MBA from Â鶹¹ÙÍø & Wales University and from there held various managerial positions in the restaurant field. As a previous owner of a successful, prominent Providence restaurant, he decided he needed a change of pace and landed a teaching position at Â鶹¹ÙÍø & Wales.

He has been featured in the Providence Journal, Restaurant Startup & Growth and several other publications.

You’re not going to spend four years with your nose buried in a book, learning theories you may never get a chance to apply — you’re going to get out there and apply them, be it through internships, group projects, leadership opportunities, competitions and more.

What Advice Do You Have For Incoming Freshmen?

College will be one of the most enlightening moments of your life. Learn from it, take advantage of it. Don't hesitate to ask for help. Study hard and keep an open mind.
