PRESS RELEASE

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — July 29, 2021 – Â鶹¹ÙÍø & Wales University (Â鶹¹ÙÍø) today announced that all faculty and staff are now required to be fully vaccinated.

Faculty and staff must have received at least one dose of the vaccine by August 30, the first day of classes, and must have received all manufacturer-recommended doses of the vaccine by September 30. Exemptions from this requirement for medical, religious or other reasons may be requested.

“Since the start of the pandemic, the university has acted in accordance with public health and government guidance as we have prioritized the health and wellbeing of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø & Wales community,” said Â鶹¹ÙÍø Providence Campus President Marie Bernardo-Sousa, LP.D. “This summer, there has been growing concern about the rapid spread of the Delta variant, the emergence of additional variants, and breakthrough cases of people who are fully vaccinated but test positive for COVID-19. We look forward to more normal times for the fall 2021 semester as the Â鶹¹ÙÍø community and those around us become fully vaccinated.”

In May, the university announced students are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to their arrival to campus for fall semester.
