PRESS RELEASE

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — December 21, 2021 – Â鶹¹ÙÍø & Wales University (Â鶹¹ÙÍø) today announced that the university will require all students, faculty and staff who do not have an exemption approved by health services (students) or Human Resources (faculty and staff) due to medical or religious reasons to receive a COVID-19 booster shot if it has been six months since their last vaccine dose.

“Since the start of the pandemic, the university has followed public health and government guidance as we have prioritized the health and wellbeing of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø & Wales community,” said Â鶹¹ÙÍø Providence Campus President Marie Bernardo-Sousa LP.D.  “As concerns remain surrounding the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, booster shots are a vital part of our ongoing effort to create a safe and healthy campus environment for all. Together, we will continue that effort and look forward to returning for a strong and successful spring semester.”

To help ensure that there is no interruption to work or studies, the deadline to receive booster shots will be March 1, 2022 or within 30 days of the individual becoming eligible to receive a booster; however, the university is encouraging individuals to get a booster — if eligible to do so — before returning to campus in January for the spring semester.

For individuals unable to receive boosters before their return, Â鶹¹ÙÍø & Wales will host clinics for Â鶹¹ÙÍø students, staff and faculty on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 and Thursday, January 13, 2022 in the Delaney Gym at the Harborside Wildcat Center.
