Nursing Technical Standards
Nursing Technical Standards
Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) degree prepares nursing students to transition to entry-level, general practice, registered nurse positions.
Clinical nursing practice, and therefore the completion of the ABSN degree, requires certain abilities and characteristics. These requirements consist of, but are not limited to, certain minimum mental, emotional, sensory, motor, interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking competencies. The development of these skills will help ensure the student is able to complete the entire program of study and attain the knowledge and skills required for nursing practice. In addition, these minimum technical standards will help ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients with whom students may come into contact during the course of the program.
Students in the program must meet all course outcomes and satisfactorily demonstrate all of the below essential abilities and characteristics in order to participate in all aspects of nursing education and successfully complete the program. The program does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities. However, clinical sites, which Â鶹¹ÙÍø does not control, may not provide or permit the same or similar accommodations that a student receives in a Â鶹¹ÙÍø classroom environment. This may hinder a student’s ability to successfully complete the program.
Please also note that some clinical placement sites may require a student to meet additional standards.
