Leadership

Many students discover and/or build upon their leadership experience and skills at Â鶹¹ÙÍø. Promoting their passions or interests with involvement in an existing student organization (or starting a new one), serving on the Student Government Association (SGA), taking a leadership role in a club or organization — these are just a few examples of how leaders thrive. Student Engagement works with student leaders throughout their four-year journey.

The annual Student Leadership Awards are a special effort on behalf of the university to acknowledge the great strides made by groups and individuals alike towards building a greater sense of community. More information about leadership awards regarding eligibility, nomination process, timeline and award descriptions can be found on the Involvement Network in the spring.

Clubs & Organizations

Â鶹¹ÙÍø offers 100+ clubs and organizations for students to choose from. Clubs and orgs are student-driven and faculty or staff advisors are ready to assist — learn more here.

Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the voice of our student body. The organization approves new clubs and organizations, runs campuswide communication initiatives, elevates student concerns, and initiates change on campus by working collaboratively with administration.

University Involvement Board (UIB) plans and coordinates on-campus events. The organization works closely with the Student Engagement team to create engaging and fun events that become campus traditions.

Community Engagement & Volunteerism

Â鶹¹ÙÍø students give back to the community by contributing their time and talents. Student Engagement joins other departments and academic areas to assist students in arranging and executing service activities. Recent examples include:

  • Tree plantings in Providence neighborhoods and on campus
  • Relay for Life, with the Colleges Against Cancer club
  • Volunteering and providing service to local shelters and elderly communities
  • Managing and stocking a student-run food pantry in multiple locations around campus

Recognizing the valuable contributions Wildcats make in society, the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation generously provides financial support for student activities that promote leadership on campus and volunteerism in the community.
