English Language & Culture Academy

The English Language & Culture Academy (ELCA) at our Providence Campus makes living and going to school in the United States easier for you. Classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) allow for the easiest cultural and academic transition and prepare you to do your best in your degree program. Â鶹¹ÙÍø ELCA offers small classes, caring faculty, personal attention and many resources and support services. ELCA students are considered part of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø community with full access to all campus amenities including on-campus housing, dining, libraries, etc.

How English as a Second Language (ESL) Works at Â鶹¹ÙÍø

Dedicated to student success, the English as a Second Language (ESL) program places students at their level of English proficiency. Students are expected to take a placement exam when entering the university. Placement test scores determine what level a student is placed into. Students are placed into 1 of 3 different proficiency levels: beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Students enrolled in ESL courses will be allowed no more than three (3) attempts to successfully complete each course. Learn more about the program via the .

International Student Services Office

At Â鶹¹ÙÍø you won’t get lost in the crowd when you arrive on campus — you’ll feel right at home. Our International Student Services Office (ISSO) team will do everything possible to help you navigate your way on campus.

ISSO will also serve as a resource for matters related to your immigration status and adjusting to your new life here in the United States. In addition, we will help you understand how to go about obtaining proper employment authorization as permitted by your student visa and provide assistance on completing your Internal Revenue Service income tax returns. We help students get involved with student clubs and organizations — the perfect way to make new friends and develop professional and social skills.
